Comparing BBC: Derek Jacobi and David Tennant, Mel Gibson
BBC, Gertrude seems very angry while Hamlet is separate from them. He turns his back and isn't relating to them. While we can see the same actions in the David Tennant film.
The scene that I would analyze would be where Hamlet is talking with his mother and Claudius. The aspect that I would be concentrating would be the acting, and the ways that the lines are delivered in the video with David Tennant, and Derek Jacobbi. With Mel Gibson, the lines that are delivered by Claudius in the other videos are now delivered by Gertrude. Analyzing Gertrude's lines, is what I am going to focus on.

Hamlets Video
The first video clip that we watched, was the 1948 Olivier version. We could see a mother son relationship. Although she had more power over him as she was standing over him while he was sitting. Their discussion was public, and every time Claudius spoke he spoke to the court and not Hamlet. His voice, and the way the lines were portrayed made Claudius seem as though he was condescending Hamlet. At the end Gertrude, gave Hamlet a kiss, which was not really in sync with the lines and scene. Hamlet also looks very let down and depressed. In the second video by Derek in 1980 this video, both the king and queen are sitting now, and Hamlet is standing. Hamlet has more confidence and therefore more aggressive than all the other videos. Gertrude is as well aggressive. Gertrude is always hanging on Claudius and this drives Hamlet insane, for only two months ago she was hanging on his real father. Hamlet is very sassy and sarcastic with his responses to his mother. In the third video, by Mel in 1990 there is no court and it is just a regular family meeting between the three of them. Claudius leaves half way through the conversation and Hamlet is left to have a conversation with his mother and you can see the tenderness between them. In the last video, the 1996 version by Kenneth, we see a huge hall but the conversations are very private. Both the king and queen look at Hamlets eyes when they are talking to him. Most of the conversation is taken place by Claudius and he seems to be very reasonable and nice but we know that he isn't for he killed Hamlets father. On the other hand, Hamlets mother doesn't seem to have any sympathy.

Act 2- Gertrude
In act 2, Gertrude is not seen as much. In the little that she is seen, we see that she. Invited Hamlets friends from Wittenberg. Such an act showing that she does car about her son, Hamlet. She also agrees with the king and Polinous, the father of Ophelia to try a plan on Hamlet to see if it is true that he is madly in love with her.

Character: Gertrude
I personally think that Gertrude is smarter than currrently portrayed. I think that she is smart and is did and continues to do things for a certain reason. The way she handles things may be seen as ignorance. During this time period women were not really given much of a voice, and are supposed to remain quiet and passive throughout their life time. Gertrude does in fact love Hamlet and her country Denmark and I feel as though the only she could make sure that everything stayed the way it was is through marrying Claudius. This way she could secure the peace of Denmark and most importantly make sure that her son, Hamlet will be alright.
In the website, they mention Gertude as "thoughtful and sensitive in her attempts to intervene. She is not simply an unwitting victim of her circumstances."

iPads
When I first started using the iPad, it was difficult to annotate on KNO for I was so used to the fact of highlighting and writing with pens. Also every once in a while I would be reading on KNO and the app would randomly close. In general reading on the iPad was difficult at first but now that I have adjusted to it, it has become easier. A benefit when reading on the iPad is that it's easier to carry around compared to books and the chances of loosing it is a lot less.

Hamlet- Act I
I think that the most important part in Act I for me was the fact that Hamlets friends, Horatio and Mercellus came to tell him that they saw the ghost of his father, the previous King Of Denmark. This was a crucial moment for Hamlet for he had been mourninng over his father and now him being able to speak with him was important. During this conversation, Hamlet was able to find out that his father had been killed by his uncle, Claudius who now happens to be the new the new King Of Denmark. Hamlets father has now asked him to avenge him, but not do anything to his mother who married quickly to Claudius after he had died. The heavens will determine what happens with her. But now that Hamlets knows he can be more at peace and focus on the task his father has asked him to do. Another part that I really think is important is that he cares and likes Ophelia, but her brother and father keep telling her to stay away from Hamlet for they think he is only going to hurt her. Lastly, I thought that the part where Queen Gertrude, his mother and King Claudius, his step- father and his uncle tell him to stop mourning over his mother. I thought that it was being insensitive. I would understand Claduius saying that because he already sounds like a jerk for killing his brother, taking his throne, and his wife. But the fact that his mother said it as well. She seems to be as though she is not even mourning him for she remarried fairly quickly and she is unable to see the amount of damage she is causing to her son.
