Metamorphosis (45-end)
I really didn't like how the short story ended. I was really wishing throughout the novel that Gregor would return to being human, and continue being his old self. Unfortunately he doesn't go back to the way he used to be. Instead he dies as the huge vermon he transformed to. Even though he has passed on his family will be ok. Sadly, this is one of those moments where you learn or achieve something great from a horrible Expirence. Gregor had to die in order for his family to realize they couldn't rely on him anymore. Now everyone's working and his sister continues to play the violin. They are going to be ok and in the end that's all that really mattrs. Also towards the end they just started ignoring him and were thinking abou getting rid of him. He worked day in and out and gave everythin he had for his family and they did this to him. But Gregor was a loving son and brother who wanted the best for his family. In the end they just took advantage of everything he was bringing in so when he turned into a bug it was a wake up call for all of them. Overall I really enjoyed reading this I just wished he would have transformed back Into human form.
Metamorphosis (35-45)
In these pages, Gregor continues to remain as a bug. Now as time has passed his sister has grown tired of caring for him. So she rarely does it anymore and neither does his mother. Instead, the house keeper who looks as though she has endured worse things cares for him. Except one day Gregor seemed as though he was ready to attack, and she took her place by holding a chair over her head looking as though she was ready to drop it on Gregors back. Poor Gregor has grown very weak, and tired he is physically and emotionally drained. His family ignores him and doesn't seem to care for him anymore and he continues to be stuck as a bug.

Conrad Essay
I need to improve on my thesis statements, making them more specific and strong. I need to make them more bold and controversial. According to the notes, my essay was a pleasure to read and it was smooth. Although my paragraphs were long I took my time to write everything, they weren't rushed. Instead of making the essay full of logic, I told the story from my point of view wihch made it interesting. Compared to the other essays I was able to do this one without meeting with Dr. Forman. My sentences on this essay flowed better compared to an hothead essay from this year. I had a great tone of voice, drawing the readers in. In the beginning I made it sound like Kurtz was a victim I society but then later on I show that he is a monster. Not making it clear to which one he really is. Going foward I look to continue writing good essays like this one. With clear and smooth sentences and transitions making. It a pleasure to read. Also I look to stregthen my thesis statements.
Metamorphasis (25-35)
These pages just cover the fact that Gregors father announced that he had some money left over from the failed business. This brings relief for Gregor for he now knows that the family has some money put aside to rely on while he is a bug. Eveyrthing he has worked for was to bring in income for the family. To support his mother and allow his sister to do everything she wishes to do and sleep in late, and wear pretty dresses and take violin classes. Also to allow his father a break that he needed after his failed business. Now to be a bug and see that he can't work and provide anymore is hurting him. But to know that his family is going to be okay is a relief. Also in these pages his sister figuires out that Gregor likes to hang off the cieling and crawl around instead of laying on the bed. He finds breathing and living easier this way. His sister trying to accomodate him to the best of her ability tries to rearrange his whole room. Brining him space to do whatever it is he wishes to do. She cannot ask her father for help and the worker will clearly say no. Therefore she has to do it herself with the help of her mother, who half way through freaks out and wanted to keep everything the same way. She thinks that if she leaves everything the way it used to be, then maybe he can return quickly and when he does return it will help him forget everything he went through as a bug. These statements from her mother makes the sister realize how important it is to move everytghing around and make life easier, despite what her mother thinks.

Best Idea
I think the best idea that was discussed was the fact that Gregor is just a bug. And how he isn't making a big deal out of it. Sometimes when something horrible happens, we sometimes ignore it and act as if nothing even happened in the first place. So in this case, working and the ability to move have both been taken away from Gregor. two things that he lives for, because now he is just a bug. Now he is ignoring what happened. Also one of the reasons for why Gregor works so hard is because he wants to give his little sister everything he didn't have as a child. He doesn't want her to worry about working but instead simply have fun and pursue all the things she would like to purisre. Also that she can enjoy being a child and not worry about working. There could be a symbol behind I'm turning into a bug. For example it could mean that he is tired of living in such a conformed society, where every single day he wakes up and does the same exact routine day in and day out. He practically lives inside a box which is what the bug represents. A restrained life style where you can't express yourself and do what you want. Now being inside the bug it shows how he is stuck and can't talk and say what he wants.

Metamorphosis (15-25)
The Metamorphosis continues to be weird and confusing. Gregor is still a huge insect, stuck in his room. His parents are frantic because they have no idea what is going on. His employer left in disgust, and Gregor probably already lost his job. Gregor thinks that his family can hear him when he is talking but in reality they can't. He is speaking but they are simply only thoughts going through his head. He cannot verbally speak. Now all that he is worried about is getting up and eating for he is hungry, and before his priority was getting to work. He is it taking the time to realize that he is now an insect and no one can hear him. This could symbolize him being stuck in this body where he can't express himself and how he feels. He is inside this body where he can't move, and no one can hear what he is saying.

Metamorphosis (5-15)
The short story so far is really interesting, but confusing, and weird. Gregor simply woke up one morning as some insect and now can't really get out of bed, and whole this is all going on the only thing going through his head is getting to work. Everyone wants him to open the door when he actually can't physically get up. His employer comes in and lashes out on him. The only question I have is how did he wake up an insect?

Today's Discussion
I thought that today's discussion was very productive. Listening to everyone's thoughts about the questions were very interesting. I really like how everyone was able to refer back to heart of darkness. My favorite question about the discussion was when we talked about whether or not keeping our inner id secret or not. It was great to hear everyone's opinions. I also really liked when we talked about not having any rules and how everyone's reaction would be to that type of situation.

3rd Body
Kurtz does not deserve to be idolized when he is such a horrible person. Everyone can see that except those who idolize him. His intended knew him way before he went off, so in her mind she still thinks he is the same person when he in fact has turned to his inner id and become dark. We can see this through his brutality and his unfaithfulness to his intended. Marlow can't see his darkness even though he is witnessing the horrible things he has done. Maybe Marlows id is also dark, but he hasn't completely come in touch with it. He has become dark enough to think Kurtz is a great person but then still has a heart. When he was torn between lying or not lying to the intended, he did it because he had a heart and to out her at peace. But a lie is a lie so now because he is not completely transformed he can easily go back and forth between his inner darkness.

2nd body Paragraph
The ending of heart of darkness is the most complex for Marlow is torn between two ideas. He says that he hates it when people lie but yet feels as though in the situation that he is currently in he has to lie. Kurtz's intended who is still mourning gravely after a year of Kurtz death asks Marlow for the last words. She is so sure of what Kurtz has said, Marlow does not quite know what to do. He wants her to be happy but at the same time he wishes to continue staying loyal to Kurtz. Marlow ends up lying to the intended for he feels that is the best choice. He did this to finally put her to peace and tell her what she wants to hear.

1 body Paragraph
I want my first body to revolve around the following ideas, introducing the essay by saying that through Marlow's imagination he has developed a fascination of Kurtz, even though he is a horrible person Conrad shows his awfulness but Marlow is unable to see that. Also both Marlow and Kurtz's intended have this idea of Kurtz being this fantastic person. Marlow is trying to rewrite history so that he can continue to praise Kurtz and feel as though he should not be questioned for praising a horrible person who had stakes on stakes facing him. Marlow lies to the intended for not only her well being but also himself so that he can believe it.

Intro paragraph
I'm thinking that my first body paragraph should first talk about Kal and how he says that people are free to dream. Then say how that casts a light on heart of darkness with Marlow. Marlow does take the opportunity to dream which is how he subsequently developed this obsession for Kurtz. The intro will elaborate more on this topic of how Karl and Conrad mesh together when it comes to this topic. Then my paragraphs to one will talk about marlow and his personalities. Lastly, before the inclusion I am going to mention why the lie was made by someone who despises lies.
HOD Question
I'm thinking that my topic for my essay should have something to do with marlow and his lie to Kurtz's intended and what exactly it shows about him and his personality. His morals, and his reason for lying since he hated it so much. Maybe it had something to do with his crazy obsession with Kurtz and making sure he is always happy. Karl mentions that everyone is free to dream and explore their wildest imaginations.here because Marlow has developed this fascination of Kurtz he feels obligated to do what he can to keep him happy, even if I involves lying even after he has passed on. I'm thinking my topic should be: what does marlow's lie show about him as a person and does it have something to do with his obsession of Kurtz?
