Their Eyes Were Watching God

Janie's grandmother, nanny:
Nanny cared for Janie and loved her, as Janies mother failed to do so. Nanny was always looking out for what would be in Janie's best interest until the very end.  To have the peace of mind that Janie would be okay after she would pass, she had an arranged marriage for Janie to marry Logan Killicks. Logan being econoimically stable, she thought he would best suit her and she would have a wonderful future to come.

Janie's expectations with Logan:
Janie did not love Logan when she was married off to him, but nanny kept on saying that. Love would come with time and that's what Janies expectations became. She would wait for her to love him, soon her foolish idea of marriage had rapidly changed. Janie imagined that Logan would be treating her properly and that he wouldnt make her work on the fiels and plow but that was exactly what he was going to do, he left to buy an extra muke for her to work with.

Janie's expectations with Jody:
Jody was a very outspoken person and sounded like he knew very well what he wanted and where he was going, when he met Janie he told her that a lady like her should simply be sitting and fanni no herself. Janie was delighted to hear such a thing and thought thats what she wanted, so she left with Jody, soon after she became to realize that she did not want to be a trophy wife set apart from society in instead she wanted to be included with the everyday activities that were going on.

Janie's expectations with Tea Cake:
After experience with Logan and Jody, Janie knew right about way hat she did not want to be treated like a trophy wife and wanted to be treated with respect. Most importantly she wanted to be included in the everyday life. Tea cake was able to give her exactly what she wanted but unfortunately what ended their marriage was a sickness that Tea Cake got and he became mentally ill and Janie had to. Use protection for herself. After three husbands, Tea Cake was the one Janie really loved.
