1. Hardings main points were that's Jane Austen's scopes were extremely restrictive. He says that his attempt was to suggest a slightly different emphasis in the reading. In other words the purpose of this essay was to criticize Jane Austens novel.

2. Hardings starts of by saying that Janes scope was restrictive, so it starts of with criticism them it changes into him speaking of satire and saying how what she said could be misleading and interpreted incorrectly. His following paragraph says that she found pele eager to laugh at faults they tolerated in themselves and their friends. He says that she thinks as long as she exaggerates their faults then everything can be considered to be funny.

3. I disagree with the way he critiques Jane Austen, when he say that Jane over exaggerates, when in reality she is only trying to bring out the truth. Also Jane is critiqued a lot because she has a character in a time period that is not meant to be there. For example, Liz she is too ahead for her time. The way Jane portrays he when she speaks and what she thinks about. There is nothing that I agree with in this essay. I feel as though Jane did a great job in portraying the way things were during that time.

4. My question would be why does Hardings critique Austen so much? What is it the he has against her writing?

5. Jane was able to portray the way women lived there life during this time period and what would happen to them if anything happened to the head of the house. And what Hardings has to say about the situation. Also, what they both have to say about marriage, espcially the proposal between Collins and Elizabeth.
