First Body - New Question

In Pride and Predjudice, Jane Austen introduces us to a female character who is in fact "ahead of her time" which coincidently causes her some issues with some of the characters. Elizabeth Bennett, the second oldest Bennett sister prides herself on her opinions and beliefs. She does not let society nor her own mother influence the choices she wishes to make for herself in her own life. She is considered brave and a risk taker which is not often seen in a century that she is currently apart of.  She is a strong believer in love and not economic standpoints. She rather me married someone who she really loves in contrast to someone who she simply married so they can support her economically. If that were in fact the case she would have married Mr. Collins when he very first proposed to her but instead she turned him down which in fact was a courageous move. Women in this century are really only asked once in marriage and rarely ever a second or more time. By turnning Collins down not only did she take the risk of never being asked again but she also took a chance at her future. Women in this time period were not allowed to own property. Unfortunate in the Bennetts case for all of the family members were women except Mr. Bennett; therefore, as a result as soon as he passes away all of his property goes to his cousin, Collins. Because Elizabeth would be unmarried she may not even have a place to live and instead but go from one house to another struggiling to survive. None of this seemed to worry Liz, but unlike her, her best friend went ahead to marry Collins when he proposed to her because she needed someone to support her and she was worried for her future and she could feel her becoming a hate to her own parents. Now we are looking at a situation where Elizabeth cares for love, and her friend cares for money which most women at the time did. Mrs. bennett is guilty for being one of those women.
